Doily Rugs Aren’t Just For Floors….

I was asked once what my style is, and I thought about it for a little bit and then replied that it’s a mix between a 5 year old and a grandmother. That may sound very weird, but let me explain. I love unicorns and bright happy colors but I also love doilies and afghans. Whenever I can, I make a doily or afghan that’s brightly colored or uniquely shaped. I also feel as though adding a couple doilies to your decoration can help spruce up and make it feel homier.

One day I was wanting to make a specific doily pattern but had ran out of the thread so I grabbed my skein of grey Caron Simply Soft yarn and made a doily rug. I’ve since made quite a few more, including a much larger version with some thick Lion Brand Hometown USA yarn. I’ve used them as rugs, as table decorations, small lap blankets, chair doilies, and the list goes on.

The larger doily rugs are so squishy and soft, perfect for cuddling up with that special someone in front of a fireplace (or if you live in an apartment like me, a TV screen with a fireplace going on it)

I feel as though they add a wonderful dash of personality. Instead of a boring tablecloth, you can have a fun colorful doily in the middle of your table. Or instead of a boring plain back to a chair or couch, you can have a fun splash of color that doesn’t look like your grandma’s doily.
