The Nineties are back, and I couldn’t be more excited! There are tons of trends from the Nineties are are having a comeback, one that I’m specifically excited about is scrunchies. When I saw that people were crocheting scrunchies, I got so excited.
I saw a bunch of people making velvet scrunchies but I never really liked any of the patterns that I saw, so I worked on it for a little bit and came up with my own pattern. I really like how they turned out, and I’ve even gotten several compliments on how they look!
It’s a super quick and easy pattern, I timed myself once, and made one in just over 5 minutes. Plus, out of one skein of Bernat Velvet yarn, you can make about 30 scrunchies!
What you will need:
Bernat Velvet Yarn
K Crochet Hook
Scissors
Hair Ties (2.5 inches across)
Embroidery Needle
Abbreviations:
CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet
DC – Double Crochet
SL ST – Slip Stitch
Pattern:
Row 1: Start a slip knot on your hook, and do a single crochet around the hair tie. Do 39 more sc around the hair tie and then slst back to the beginning (40)
Row 2: Ch 3, dc into same hole. Continue doing 2dc into each stitch around (80)
Tie off the ends using the embroidery needle, and you have yourself a super cute scrunchy! Whether you plan on selling them, gifting them, or just making a whole bunch of them for yourself, they’re super easy to make and look so cute! Make sure and tag me on Instagram if you make any and post on there! I’d love to see them!
Thank you so much for this pattern and instructions. I’m always trying to find items to interest my granddaughters in sewing or crocheting. I want to think I will pass along to them the ability to make your own clothes, crochet your on hats and basically spark their minds to create and design! My 11 year old granddaughter was thrilled! She especially was thrilled with the velvet yarn. Thank you again!! We are now mass producing for her friends!!💕👏🏻💕👏🏻💕
