Learning to Crochet – Lesson 7 Heart Stitch

This is a super cute stitch that requires two different colors of yarn. I was super excited about trying this stitch , since it was just so stinking pretty, and I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was.

Grab your hook and 2 colors of yarn, and let’s get started!

To begin you’re going to ch 21, dc in 4th from hook and dc across.

Ch 1, and then sc across

Now you’re going to switch colors, and the fun is about to begin! Ch 2, 1 cluster in the same stitch. *Ch2, skip 5 stitches, (1 cluster, chain 2, 1 cluster) in the next stitch*. Repeat between * all the way across. Ch 2, skip 5 stitches, 1 cluster in the next stitch.

Change back to the first color. Ch 2, sc in the same stitch. Ch 1, *hdc in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th skipped stitches from below, working around the ch 2, Ch 2, skip the next cluster, 1 sc in the next ch 2 space, skip next cluster*. Repeat between the * across. Hdc 1 in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th skipped stitches from below, working around the ch 2. Ch 1, 1 sc in the next cluster.

Ch 2, 1 dc in the next ch 1 space. *1 dc in the next 3 stitches. 1 Dc in the next ch 2 space, 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next ch 2 space*. Repeat between the * all the way across. 1 dc in the next 3 stitches. 1 dc in the next ch 1 space, 1 dc in the next stitch.

Repeat until you have 3 rows of hearts, and then you’ll have your square for the blanket in the end!
